    Incremental strangler pattern

    New features land in the new system, the old stack keeps serving. We migrate piece by piece over months, not an 18-month big-bang that never ends.

    Retroactive test harness

    Regression tests on existing code before we touch anything. Cover the critical cases so we can refactor without fear.

  3. 03

    Adapter layer over the legacy DB

    The new system reads through an adapter (FastAPI over Firebird / MS SQL / 1C). The old stack is not touched. Minimal coupling, gradual migration.

  4. 04

    Documented knowledge transfer

    Interviews with the person-who-knows-the-system, converted into ADRs and runbooks. Knowledge no longer depends on one person.
